Harvest

Generally, the Cashew harvest season in Vietnam starts quite early, around the end of January or February, and ends in May or June depending on weather and planting methods. Cashew trees produce an oval-shaped fruit called the cashew apple with a single nut on the outside. Vietnam cashew nuts are harvested when both the forged fruits and kernels are ripening. They can be harvested when the fruits are still in the tree or have dropped on the ground. After harvesting, the pulp is removed and the pip is rinsed with water, then sun-dried for 2-3 days, pre-classified, packed, and preserved in a dry and cool place. A huge supply of raw cashew nuts in the shell comes from local cashew farms, packed hygienically under natural conditions by using the latest machines and then ready for sales.

Production

Since 2017, Vietnam has become the number one hub of cashew nuts processing and largest exporter of cashew nut kernels in the world, accounting for over 50% of processed raw cashews in the world. In Binh Phuoc province, the largest region of high-quality cashew growing in Vietnam.

Vietnam exported about 500,000 tons of cashew nut kernels annually. However, Vietnam can still produce about 1,200,000 tons of cashew nuts kernels annually. By the year 2018, the Vietnam cashew nuts industry produced approximately 2,660,000 tons, as well as their shells. This was about 3.4 times higher than in India. In 2020, Vietnam exported  515,000 tons of cashew nut kernels, making Vietnam an unquestionable leader of cashew nuts production and export.

Vietnam’s Cashew nuts main products are the Whole White Cashews. Percentage of Whole and Broken Grades of Vietnam cashew nuts industry: 80% Whole Kernels, 20% Broken Kernels. The high percentage of whole cashew grades in Vietnam is the result of Shelling by hand (labor-intensive, done by hand).

The W320 cashew nut kernel is the main product of the Vietnam cashew industry. It has been estimated that about 60 % of cashew nut is consumed in the form of snacks, mostly roasted with salted. The Grade Of Cashews Vietnam Base-On?

In Vietnam, the grade of cashew nuts is usually based on the AFI Standard. Cashew Kernels are graded into white/scorched wholes, splits, butts, etc. Depending on the size, shape, color of the kernel. There are various different grades of cashew kernels, but few grades are commercially available and traded.
